I’ve tested quite a few products recently, and Armor Shield IX is what I’ll be using to coat my other cars
Have used several ceramic coatings in my time as an auto detailer. Armor shield has definitely been the best bang for the buck!
For years, I have been protecting the paint on our vehicles by applying waxes, sealants, and ceramic sprays myself. The only problem with that is that none of them last very long. I've found that at most you can only get about a year's worth of top protection from any of these kinds of products. I had been wanting to try applying a ceramic coating to our vehicles to get some longer lasting top notch protection, but I was a bit intimidated because I'm really just an amateur detailer and I'd never done anything this extensive before. However, I heard several people speak about how user friendly this particular ceramic coating is and I watched a few youtube tutorials on it. So I gave this product a shot and I'm glad I did! I found that it was very easy to apply and remove and I'd say that anyone who's had past experience doing waxes or sealants will be just fine with this ceramic coating. While I'm sure that it won't last quite as long as the 5 plus years of protection that you can get from other higher end ceramic coatings, I am hoping that it will hold up longer than the other paint protection products I've used in the past, but only time will tell there. I will say, that if you plan to apply this product correctly, set aside a big chunk of time to do so. It took me a good 4 plus hours per vehicle to do the full recommended step by step process of a strip wash, clay baring, applying an iron removal spray, polishing out a few significant scratches, doing an ipa wipe down, and applying the coating. Finally, I'll say that the store tends to overestimate the amount of product you need. It told me that in order to do one full coat on just paint of our vehicles that I'd need to buy 2 bottles per vehicle. Thankfully I didn't buy into that and I'd say that any normal size vehicle could be coated with just one bottle, just remember when applying that a little bit of product goes a long way.
I love the Armor Shield IX product already! I applied two coats although I really only needed one. It gave my car a beautiful shine to it and made it extremely smooth I wish my childhood slides were this smooth feeling. It also rained a few days after applying the coat and I watched the hydrophobic feature working as the rain beaded up and slipped off the car. Definitely recommend this product!
I bought the ceramic coat a while back but always afraid of using it on my pride and joy. Then I bought a used car (semi-beater/not a beater) that had its fair share of time in the sun and finally manned up to give it a go. Sure the prep took ages but there's power tools to replace the elbow grease but after even 1 layer, 48h to cure, it turns out fabulous that I did one of my pride and joy that was more cared for. The paint on that one pops and best of all you can use it on all surfaces which was great coz I needed a more permanent way of turning unpainted plastics black again. The only challenge was with a lighter coloured car, it is harder to see the high spots. Anyway, well done Avalon kings. You've popped my ceramic coat cherry.
