Which brings me to this question. I’ve read other members comments, which some of your staff reps stated it being okay to place PPF (like Lamin-X) on top of an already ceramic coated panel.
I ceramic coated the whole car & then realized that I wanted to lay a small PPF sheet on the edge trim of my car’s hood. I’ve read many articles online that 1 should polish off the ceramic coated area where the PPF will be placed, lay down the PPF on the “cleaned” area & then top it off (PPF) with ceramic coating. I’m fearful of ruining my car’s hood if I try to polish out the area of the ceramic where I would like to place the PPF. What will be the consequences/side effects if I just place the small strip of PPF on top of my already coated car’s hood? Thank u for the help in advanced!

That is a possibility, yes. It’s not that ceramic coats are water spots traps the issue is twofold 1) The water beads due to the hydrophobic action. On flat surfaces the bead can leave behind a water spot 2) the ceramic coating itself makes the water spot more obvious due to the “candy gloss” shine. It is always best to dry the car after exposure to water. If you have hard water in your area or issues with water spots. I’d suggest picking up a bottle of a reputable water spot remover agent. After using don’t forget to flush the area with pure or distilled water and dry.

That’s are 100’s of articles out there on this very subject and the answers are often contradictory. The purpose of adding a secondary coating of ceramic coating give you the correct answer.
With a DIY ceramic coating, the bond is established with the first coating bonding to the painted surface. Everything else is going to be applied will bond or stack on top of the original coating.
Long story short. You can definitely add a secondary coating. Will it solve an existing issue? Probably not. Will it add more shine? More than likely!

The waiting time can vary from 30 to 90 days primarily to allow the fresh paint to gas off. Definitely contact the manufacturer/dealership to verify if there is any gas off period required on the new paint.
PPF shouldn’t damage the paint in any way shape or form. Depending on the type of PPF there still could be some form of UV damage which makes applying a coat of Armor Shield on top even more important!

You sure can! Most apply the PPF and then Armor Shield on top but you can do it before and even after! There is a general rule we call the rule of stacking. When applying products to the surface of a vehicle you should consider applying the longest lasting material first. The optimal order would be like this: Paint>Clear Coat>PPF>Armor Shield
